Terminal 21 Bangkok: what it is worth your time for

Terminal 21 is worth a stop for an inexpensive lunch and a quick browse if you are already on Sukhumvit, but it is not a destination for luxury shopping. Choose it for convenience and novelty. Choose Siam Paragon or Emporium for labels.

The details below come from the mall’s own pages and the guides listed here, not first-hand visits.

What it is

The mall calls itself a shopping airport, with the line that the whole world is here. Its design draws on market streets from eight places: the Caribbean, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, London, Istanbul, San Francisco and Hollywood. Each level carries a city theme with matching decor, which makes it an easy place for photos and a fun stop with children.

Its floors run from B and LG up through GF and MF to levels 1 to 6. Published guides disagree on which city sits on which floor. The mall’s own Pier 21 page places the fifth floor in San Francisco, and that is the only assignment confirmed by the mall. Use the floor directory or the maps inside the mall instead of a list from a blog.

Pier 21 and other food

This is the real reason to come. Pier 21 is a food court on the fifth floor, which the mall describes as a gathering place with affordable prices. Its page lists about 30 vendors, among them Thongchai Tomyum Noodle and Kitchen Delight, plus stalls for boat noodles, pork leg, chicken rice and vegetarian food.

Thailand Magazine puts main dishes at around 50 baht, in an article without a date. Treat that as a guide, not a price list. It is a fair introduction before you move on to the street food guide.

The same guide also names Fifth Food Avenue and Food Island as dining zones in the mall. For a proper dinner, you will do better elsewhere. See the best restaurants in Bangkok or the Thai restaurants guide.

Things to do at Terminal 21

  • Eat at Pier 21. Budget under an hour.
  • Walk the themed floors. Good for a quick set of photos.
  • Shop small brands and gifts. Its published offer centres on fashion, gifts and affordable food, not big luxury houses.
  • See a film. The official site has a films section with current screenings.
  • Run errands. The mall’s directory lists laundry and postal services on B floor, which is useful if you need clothes cleaned or a parcel shipped.

Sales change through the year. At the time of writing, the mall lists a Shoes and Bags Sale from 4 to 15 November 2026, with discounts of up to 70 percent, and a Year End Joy promotion through 31 December 2026.

Who it suits

Pick Terminal 21 if your hotel is near Asok, if it is raining, or if you want a cheap, clean meal without any planning. It is also handy between trains, as the BTS and MRT meet here.

Skip it if you want luxury. Emporium and EmQuartier are at Phrom Phong on the same BTS line and suit that better, and Siam Paragon has the widest choice. The best malls guide compares them, and the Bangkok shopping guide explains the VAT refund.

Terminal 21 hotel on Sukhumvit

Grande Centre Point Terminal 21, at 2 Sukhumvit Soi 19, shares a building with the mall and connects directly to it. The hotel also lists direct access to BTS Asok, which links to MRT Sukhumvit. It is a practical base for easy transit. If you want a more refined stay, compare it with the luxury hotels guide and where to stay in Bangkok.

Do not confuse the branches

Terminal 21 Asok is the Bangkok mall most visitors mean. There is also a Terminal 21 Rama 3 in Bangkok, plus branches in Pattaya and Korat. Check the name when you book a car. For more on reaching Asok, see getting around Bangkok.
