ICONSIAM: how to get there and what is worth your time
Updated 6 November 2026

Image created with AI, not a specific venue.
The best way to reach ICONSIAM is the shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier, next to BTS Saphan Taksin, as the river crossing is half the appeal. It is worth a half day for SookSiam, the views and an evening meal, but do not go only to buy brands you can find at Siam.
Details below come from the mall and the guides listed here, not first-hand visits.

How to get there by boat
The mall lists public boats, a fare-paying shuttle boat and hotel boats, but does not publish times or fares on its own page. These come from THAIest, updated 5 May 2026. Fares move with fuel prices, so check the sign at the pier.
| Boat | Route | Hours | Fare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shuttle (Supatra Boat) | Sathorn Pier to ICONSIAM Pier 1 | 09:00 to 22:50, every 15 to 20 minutes | 12 baht |
| Cross-river ferry | Si Phraya Pier to ICONSIAM Pier 4 | 09:30 to 22:30 | 8 baht |
| Blue Flag tourist boat | Phra Arthit to Sathorn, stops at ICONSIAM | See our transport guide | 40 baht, or 150 baht a day |
| Hotel boats | From riverside hotels | Ask the hotel | Guests |
From Sathorn Pier. Take the BTS to Saphan Taksin, which is next to the pier. Coming back, buy your ticket at the Boat Ticket Service booth near Pier 1.
From a riverside hotel. THAIest lists free guest boats at The Siam, Royal Orchid Sheraton, The Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La, Chatrium, The Salil, Four Seasons and Capella. Ask your concierge for the timetable. If you are choosing a hotel, see the luxury hotels guide and where to stay.
From Wat Pho, Wat Arun or Chinatown. Use the Blue Flag boat, which stops at each of these and at ICONSIAM. Note that the Orange Flag express boat sometimes skips the ICONSIAM stop, so do not count on it. See the Wat Arun guide.
How to get there by BTS
Take the BTS Silom Line to Krung Thon Buri and change to the Gold Line. Charoen Nakhon, one stop on, is the station for the mall. Our transport guide lists a flat 17 baht fare. This is the better route when you want air conditioning, and it is also the way to go from Siam, as the Silom Line runs directly to Krung Thon Buri.
By car, the mall gives two free parking hours, then 30 baht an hour for hours three to six and 60 baht an hour from hour seven. Purchases extend the free period. Traffic is the reason to skip this.
What is worth it
SookSiam. The strongest reason to come. It is a Thai cultural floor with regional food, crafts and folk arts from all 77 provinces. Thailand Magazine places it on the ground floor. Come hungry.
The river at dusk. River Park is an open-air space of more than 10,000 square metres. ICONSIAM Park on the second floor adds trees and sculpture. Time your visit for sunset and stay into the evening.
The water show. The ICONIC Multimedia Water Features run on the river, with jets up to 35 metres high, and the site lists the show through 31 December 2026. One guide gives 16:30, 18:30, 20:00 and 21:30, about 15 minutes each, and says times can change, so check at the information desk on the day.
A proper dinner. The mall claims more than 150 dining options, including Michelin-starred restaurants, and names Blue by Alain Ducasse, Nara and Thipsamai on its site. Thailand Magazine also points to the Tasana Nakorn Terrace on level 6 for skyline views. Book ahead for anything serious, and see the Michelin guide.
Seasonal events. ICONSIAM Bangkok Illumination runs from 1 November to 25 December 2026. Festivals change through the year and fill the riverside.
What to skip
Skip it as a pure luxury run if you are short on time. The ICONLUXE zone and Siam Takashimaya are strong, but Siam Paragon gives you more choice with less travel from the centre. The best malls guide compares them. Thailand Magazine reports that Thailand’s first official Apple Store is on the second floor, which is helpful if you need one but not a reason to cross the river.
Plan a half day
Arrive at about 4pm by boat. Walk SookSiam, go up for views, watch the first evening show from the riverside and eat dinner. Return by boat or Gold Line. If you want a dinner on the water instead, see the Chao Phraya dinner cruise guide. For the ONESIAM card and VAT refund, read the shopping guide.
