The best night markets in Bangkok

For most visitors, the best night market is Jodd Fairs Ratchada for food and energy, and Asiatique if you want the river and a more comfortable evening. Go to Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin only if you love vintage and do not mind the longer trip.

Bangkok’s markets open and close quickly, and online lists go out of date. Check the market’s official channel on the day. Details below are from sources listed on this page, and they do not reflect first-hand visits.

Quick comparison

Market Best for Hours as listed Effort

Asiatique The Riverfront River, dinner, families Daily 11:00 to midnight Easy, by river or car

Chang Chui Design, photos, dinner Tuesday to Sunday, 4pm to 11pm Thonburi side, by car
The One Ratchada Vintage, street food Daily, 5pm to midnight Ratchadaphisek Road
JJ Green Vintage, plants, antiques Fridays, 5pm to midnight Next to Chatuchak

Jodd Fairs Ratchada

The successor to the well-known Jodd Fairs at Rama 9, which has closed. Reports say the Rama 9 site shut around the end of 2024, and maps and booking sites may still show the old pin. Check that your driver is heading for the Ratchada site, not Rama 9. Go early in the evening for shorter queues, and come hungry. Hours vary between listings, so confirm them on the market’s Facebook page.

Pick this if you only do one market. It suits a casual dinner from several stalls more than serious shopping.

Asiatique The Riverfront

A managed riverside complex at 2194 Charoenkrung Road, open every day from 11:00 to midnight. It has a 300-metre riverfront promenade, a 60-metre Ferris wheel called Asiatique Sky, street food and restaurants in its warehouse buildings, and the Calypso Cabaret show.

It has more in common with an outdoor mall than with a true market. That is its strength if you want an easy walk and a proper table. The Blue Flag tourist boat extends to Asiatique from 11:30 to 19:00, as our transport guide explains. Pick it for couples and families. Skip it if you are after local bargains.

Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin

A long-running market for vintage fans, at Srinagarindra Road in Prawet. Listings give Thursday to Sunday, 5pm to 1am. It offers bargain fashion, retro furniture and street snacks. It is a long ride from most hotels, so plan on a taxi or Grab in both directions and leave more time than you think you need.

Do not confuse it with Train Night Market DanNeramit, which closed in early 2025. The Nation reported that visitors found it shuttered that January.

Chang Chui

A creative market at 460/8 Sirindhorn Road on the Thonburi side, built around a repurposed aeroplane. Listings give Tuesday to Sunday, 4pm to 11pm, with vintage finds, restaurants and live music. Go if you want something more design-led and are happy to take a car.

The One Ratchada

A later arrival on Ratchadaphisek Road, with vintage clothing, collectibles and Thai street food. Listings give daily from 5pm to midnight, and you can bargain. It works as a backup or a second stop near Jodd Fairs Ratchada.

JJ Green

A Friday-night flea market next to Chatuchak, listed from 5pm to midnight, with antiques, plants and vintage goods. Combine it with Friday dinner in the north of the city.

Chatuchak is a day market

Chatuchak is often listed with night markets, but the full market runs on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm. Plants are sold on Wednesday and Thursday from 7am to 6pm. Read the Bangkok shopping guide to fit it into your weekend.

Chinatown

Yaowarat Road is less a market than a street of food stalls after dark, and it is the most rewarding pick if your priority is eating. See our street food guide for how to approach it.

How to get the most from it

  • Bring cash. Small notes make stalls and queues easier.
  • Check hours on the day. They vary between sources, and rain changes plans.
  • Bargain lightly. Haggling is normal at vintage and clothes stalls, but not at food stalls.
  • Book a return car. Grab demand can jump at closing time, so leave a little earlier if you can.
  • Keep your bag closed. Crowded lanes are where people lose phones.
