The Best Afternoon Tea in Bangkok

Updated 6 November 2026

The best afternoon tea in Bangkok is the Authors’ Lounge at Mandarin Oriental if you want the classic experience, and The Peninsula if you want a river hotel for about a third less. Pick The Siam for a Thai menu and a boat ride to get there.

Most hotels change their set every season, so a price is only good until the menu turns over. Everything below was checked on 6 November 2026. This page does not rest on first-hand visits. Check before you go.

Waldorf Astoria, Peacock Alley Not published Open 10:00 to 19:00

The ++ means 10% service and 7% tax on top, which adds about 18%. Mandarin Oriental’s figure already includes both, so it is less far ahead of the others than it first looks. A set at THB 1,800++ costs about THB 2,119 per person.

The classic: Mandarin Oriental

The Authors’ Lounge at 48 Oriental Avenue is the name most people search for. The hotel lists afternoon tea daily from 12:00 to 18:00. One long-running review, with practical details rechecked in September 2026, gives THB 4,600 per couple including service and tax. The same page shows another per-person figure, so confirm the price when you book. It describes a smart dress code: long trousers and closed shoes for men, no sleeveless shirts. Outside guests can book, and the review advises booking ahead for weekends.

Go for the room and the occasion. If the food matters more than the setting, the sets below cost less.

On the river

The Peninsula serves its seasonal set in The Lobby through 30 November 2026, from noon to 18:00. The price includes tea or coffee. If you want to stay for hours, its Saturday unlimited tea and caviar offer is listed at THB 1,588++ per person, also noon to 18:00. Of the river hotels, this is the one to pick on value.

Four Seasons has a limited Thai-inspired menu at The Lounge from 26 September to 30 November 2026, daily from 14:00 to 17:00. These details come from a trade publication rather than the hotel, so confirm them, and ask what replaces the menu in December.

Capella lists a Valrhona chocolate set called Éclat de Cacao in its Tea Lounge as a limited-time offer. Choose it if you prefer sweet over savoury. A separate 2026 guide gives Tea Lounge hours as 12:00 to 18:00.

With more Thai character

The Siam in Dusit pairs with Sarnies on a set that uses Thai flavours: moo ping crispy rice, a jasmine tart, pandan and longan scones. The tea comes from a Karen community in Huay Hin Lad Nai. A hotel cruise shuttle runs about 25 minutes from Taksin Bridge BTS, and seats are limited, so book it by phone. This is the cheapest set here and the only one where the journey is half the point.

Siam Kempinski runs Dreams in Colour from 4 August 2026, with no end date given. The set includes a limited-edition silk scarf made by artists from Artstory by Autistic Thai, and live harp from Tuesday to Sunday. Its central location makes it an easy stop on a shopping day. The lounge also lists The Christmas Salon as a festive tea, so ask for dates.

Quiet and expensive

Aman Nai Lert serves tea at 1872 from 14:00 to 17:00. The hotel’s page publishes no price, and a 2026 guide gives from USD 115++ for two. Choose it if you want an Aman setting more than a traditional tea room.

Waldorf Astoria lists Peacock Alley as open daily from 10:00 to 19:00, with tea and small bites, but no public price. Call the hotel on +66 2 846 8888.

W Bangkok serves tea at The House on Sathorn, listed by the same 2026 guide at from USD 88++ for two, from 14:00 to 17:00.

How to book

Reserve directly with the hotel and ask three things: which set is running on your date, whether the price includes tea or coffee, and whether the window has a last order. If you want a river view, ask for it when you book.
