Go to Sky Bar once for the height and the view, and choose Penthouse Bar + Grill if you want a calmer evening. For a party with DJs, go to Tichuca or SIN.

Note one closure. Moon Bar and the Vertigo restaurant at Banyan Tree are closed for renovation and reopen on 2 December 2026, according to the hotel.

The 14 compared

Prices are one sample cocktail from each bar’s menu. A “++” price adds 10% service and 7% tax, which is how Sky Bar’s list states it. Other bars may show their totals differently, so check the menu.

The Standard’s Sky Beach is not in this table, as it needs a separate ticket through King Power Mahanakhon. The hotel calls it the highest rooftop bar in Bangkok, and last access is at 11 pm. It also welcomes all ages, which helps families.

Which one to pick

For the classic view: Sky Bar. It is expensive and walk-in only, and the drinks are the price of the view. Budget accordingly. Distil is on the same floor, is for guests aged 20 and over, and has a terrace facing west.

For cocktails over spectacle: Penthouse Bar + Grill. The hotel lists live jazz in the Cocktail Bar from Wednesday to Sunday.

For the river: ThreeSixty on the Khlong San bank, or SIN and SEEN on the Thonburi bank.

For a big night: Tichuca, or Above Eleven, which has resident DJs and a Peruvian-Japanese menu.

For value: Sky on 20, with a daily happy hour from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Sunset timing

Bangkok’s sunset moves by about an hour across the year. Times below are from timeanddate.com for the Bangkok area.

Arrive 45 minutes before sunset to get a seat and settle in. At walk-in bars, go earlier, since you cannot hold a table in advance. The early-opening bars are Sky Bar and Red Sky, both from 4 pm.

Watch the winter dates. In November, Penthouse and Spectrum open only about 20 minutes before sunset, so book the first slot. Choose a west-facing seat if you can: Distil’s terrace is the one bar here that says outright that it faces west.

Dress code

Rules are enforced at the door, and they apply to men more strictly than women.

• Strictest: Above Eleven and Spectrum require closed shoes. Above Eleven says men may not wear sandals, flip-flops or Birkenstocks. Spectrum bars open-toe shoes, sleeveless shirts, sportswear and team jerseys.
• Smart casual: Sky Bar, Distil and Octave. Sky Bar accepts T-shirts and tailored shorts but not sportswear, swimwear, sleeveless shirts for men, flip-flops or beach slippers.
• Relaxed: Belga asks only for no singlets or flip-flops.

The safe outfit is a collared shirt, long trousers and closed shoes. Leave backpacks and luggage at the hotel. Sky Bar and Distil do not allow them and offer no storage. Tripods and selfie sticks are banned at lebua too.

Age, ID and rain

Several bars admit only guests aged 20 and over, including Distil, Octave and Tichuca. Tichuca asks foreign guests for an original passport and does not accept copies or digital versions. Carry your passport if you plan to go there.

Open-air bars are exposed to the weather. Octave warns that bookings on its top floors can be cancelled in rain or storms. If the forecast is poor, choose a bar with indoor seating: Belga, SEEN or the Cocktail Bar at Penthouse.
